Lean Black Belt

The Lean Black Belt is an advanced-level Microcredential that equips executives/practitioners as leaders in Lean and continuous improvement through the systemic integration of Lean philosophy, thinking, and practice. Participants will attain comprehensive knowledge and advanced understanding of Lean, enabling them to lead improvement activities across their organisations/enterprises and drive sustained initiatives. Emphasising organisational transformation, the module equips participants with methodologies to lead and manage real-world challenges and improve processes, collaborating with senior leadership to align improvement initiatives with strategic goals. Additionally, participants will develop coaching and mentoring skills, creating action plans consistent with the overarching organisational strategy.

  • Evaluate the use of appropriate Lean Thinking, Tools, and Techniques for process/operational performance and continuous improvement.
  • Lead the design and delivery of process/operational performance and continuous improvement initiatives across an organisation/enterprise.
  • Assess the implementation of recommended improvement opportunities and measures to sustain project outcomes.
  • Disseminate project outcomes and knowledge acquired.
  • Integrate reflective practice to enable and sustain organisational learning and continuous improvement.

  • The Assessment Method entails participants individually completing a Lean Black Belt Continuous Improvement Project.
  • This Microcredential is assessed on a Pass/Fail basis.
  • Upon successful completion of this Microcredential, participants will be awarded the Lean Black Belt from SETU.
